What is a Petting Zoo?
A synthesizer petting zoo is an event where we members bring a favorite synthesizer, small rig, or instrument to show off. For those bringing gear for the petting zoo (or to sell/trade), upon arrival you’ll put your gear out on tables around the room. Then people can wander around the room to check out all the gear and socialize. It’s a fun way to explore instruments and meet other people who share a passion for similar gear. Bringing gear to share is optional but encouraged.

Bring Your Headphones
The petting zoo / gear swap is a headphones only event. EVERYONE bring headphones. I recommend an adapter so you can check out instruments with 1/4″ and 1/8″ headphone outs.

Synth Petting Zoo Logistics
For those bringing gear to show off or to sell or trade…

  • These events are usually quite popular so if you are bringing gear to show off at the petting zoo or items for the gear swap, please limit table space you’ll need to round a 61 key controller wide.
  • Bring an extension cord and power strips if you are not running on battery.
  • In case we run out of table space, throw a folding table your card. Leave it in the car in case you need it.

Gear Swap Logistics

  • It’s up to the buyers & sellers to sort out transactions for gear. I personally recommend you are ready to go with PayPal or Venmo.
  • These events are usually quite popular so if you are bringing gear to show off at the petting zoo or items for the gear swap, please limit table space you’ll need to round a 61 key controller wide.
  • Keep your items synth or audio related. Things like mics, stands, cases, cables, hardware effects are welcome in addition to synths.
  • If you are selling something that needs power, I recommend you bring an extension cord and power strip.

Méchant Métrique Bio
