Our next event will be on Zoom on Tuesday September 20th at 7pm MDT.
This event will feature an Intro to Max, a programming environment developed and maintained by San Francisco-based software company Cycling ’74 and owned by Ableton.
Max is a visual programming language for music and multimedia with over a thirty-year history. It is used by composers, performers, software designers, researchers, and artists to create recordings, performances, and installations.
Michael O’Bannon will offer an intro to what Max 8 is about, the basic structure of a patch, a glimpse into basic capabilities including using it for MIDI, audio processing, sound generation, visuals and more. Kevin Garlow will close the presentation with tips on how to learn Max including a list of resources to help you get started. This will be followed by a brief round-table discussion with attendees on their Max creations.
Even if you are not interested in programming, we think you’ll find some of Max’s capabilities might inform and inspire your use of synthesizers, so we hope to see you there.
