Join us on Tuesday October 29th from 6:00-8:30 pm at the Junkyard Social Club for a synth meet with drinks featuring fun Halloween Sample Flip Challenge performances by Rocky Mountain Synthesizer Meet members.
These rapid-fire performances will feature members playing short songs they created using ONLY Halloween samples they sliced, flipped, and mangled from a sound pack provided by Soundtrack Loops – https://soundtrackloops.com. More info on how to register for the performance and get the pack is available below.
Attendees and performers can enjoy drinks and small bites from the Junkyard Social Club’s cafe https://junkyardsocialclub.org while they listen to live music and mingle with like-minded synth enthusiasts. The venue is being donated by Junkyard Social Club, so please come hungry and thirsty 🍸🍺.
Costumes are encouraged 👻.

ABOUT THE HALLOWEEN SAMPLE FLIP CHALLENGE
The challenge for performers will use ONLY samples from the provided pack and then slice, flip, and mangle the samples into a song they will perform at the event. Performances will be rapid-fire 5 minute sets.
** Slots are open to any member who has attended at least 2 events.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PERFORMERS
Before the Event:
- RSVP with “I Plan to Attend + Request a Performance Slot” ticket type.
- Download the pack using the link above.
- Choose an instrument for slicing, flipping, and playing (e.g., Akai MPC, Ableton Push 3, Koala Sampler, Deluge). You are also welcome to use granular synthesis on samples. Setup time will be 1 minute or less, so choose a nimble rig.
- Produce a song up to 5 minutes long using ONLY samples from the pack. Slice, flip, make kits, make granular patches to mangle these samples into something fresh, and not simply layer the samples. All styles with a Halloween-vibe are welcome. Keep content appropriate for a general audience.
At the Event:
- Arrive and signup for playing order FIRST COME FIRST SERVE when you arrive.
- When it’s your turn to play:
- Spend up to 1-minute hooking up to 1/4″ stereo inputs of the mixer.
- Play some of the original un-mangled samples so the audience will know your starting point.
- Timer starts.
- Perform your song. Set length is up to 5-minutes.
